Sego Prairie Farms is located within the City of Kuna in Ada County, State of Idaho. The subdivision lies off of Ten Mile Road just a few miles North and West of Kuna’s business center (which is about 25 miles Southwest of Boise.) Our borders are formed by Discovery Creek Subdivision to the South, Nicholson Park and Indian Creek to the West, Secluded Court and its subdivisions to the North, and N. Ten Mile Rd. to the East. Just across Ten Mile lies Kuna Middle School and the Kuna Police Station.
There are 106 homes in the subdivision, which has been incorporated since 2000.
At the West end of Sego Prairie Street is Nicholson Park, a ~7 acre area of land donated to the City Of Kuna by the Nicholson Family to be used as a public park. In the center of the park is a ~4 acre pond. It is fed by Indian Creek and used for the purpose of providing irrigation water to surrounding subdivisions. The irrigation pump fully cycles the reservoir water every ~3 days. The pond was last tested by the EPA in 2004 and determined to be a safe wading and swimming area with beaches on the West and East sides. There are no lifeguards on duty, so please monitor the safety of yourself and others responsibly. It is stocked a few times a year with lake trout by the Fish & Game department. Nicholson Park is enjoyed by many all year around with activities such as swimming, canoeing, fishing, jogging, sight-seeing along the banks of Indian Creek, where you might also see groups floating by on inner tubes, organized sports practices, barbecuing and picnicking, frisbee and other family/group lawn games, and organizational events including Vacation Bible School and neighborhood gatherings. The park is also home to migratory birds and water foul and birds of prey. Garter snakes are often spotted in the area. The park is open from sun-up to sun-down and there is plenty of parking. Please be respectful and courteous to the wildlife and people and keep the park clean by picking up your trash and pet droppings and driving through the neighborhood and parking area safely.
The City of Kuna (which means “the end of the trail”) is still one of the fastest-growing communities in the Treasure Valley (Boise area) and at last count has 13,000+ residents. What used to be a small farming community has become a bedroom suburb for Boise employees. However, Kuna still retains its small-town charm, with a throw-back main street. In many ways, it’s Anytown, USA.
